Ted, Yes I did watch the Charlie Rose interview - I have watched many Ted Turner interviews. I have followed your input for years. However, I am asking for your advice, support, and help. I grew up a Kansas farmer's daughter, and now twenty years later I see odd seasonal changes, I see suburban sprawl on excellent soil needed for the growth of wheat and other crops. I see over population and polution everywhere. I see these crops being eliminated, I see pastures, the beautiful Flint Hill area being destroyed, this area is needed to pasture thousands of cattle every year. I have a strong agricultural backgroud, I have an Ag Econ degree and an Organization Management and Leadership Bachelor of Science. However, the State of Kansas, as well as other states do not offer the Environment Educations (Prograns and Degrees) that are essential to today's global condition (chaos). I love Kasas agriculture and I understand the incredible importantance of it. It is going to Hell. I need,I NEED the knowledge and input of someone of your statue. Of coures, I would love to meet with you to discuss this problem and develope solutions for this problem. I need someone of your intellent and experence to teach and guide me. My E-Mail is brendamcguire@esagelink.com My home phone is (316) 282-0773.I would like to see Kansas remain an agricultural state. Just like you want Montana to have enough pasture ground for your buffalo. Thank you, Brenda McGuire

So. To any thinking human being, (not the 'sheep'): historically, at least since May 1, 1776, the global control mandate has included population control, et al. Once you have checked into that, I have just a couple of questions for you. For all of you that agree with the elitists population control,(ie.: look up, 'Georgia Guidestones' culling 500,000,000 people), have you ever asked yourself where supporting that paradigm will lead? Try to think ahead a little. Have you asked your grandchildren after that decision was given to the elitists to allow such control how they will feel to give up their lives for such a paradigm? Serious questions arise after serious consideration of such an impactful relinquishment of control. Why not ask Turner and the elitists if they would step up to be the first to give up the lives of their families. One more question: who decides who goes first? All of a sudden this paradigm is filed under "G". Don't be sheep.

Ted Turner is indeed a Man of All Seasons or maybe better personified on the cusp of the 20th/21st centuries. Certainly a Visionary who conceived the possibilities of world connections via the application of space technology opening the door to satellites beaming a global spotlight into our living rooms as we became voyeurs in our easy chairs and occasional activists in the streets and behind the podiums of our institutions as we viewed man's imprudence to one another and to our planet. I am reminded of all those men and women who have enriched our lives from Abraham Lincoln,Virginia Woolf,Eugene O'Neil Beethoven, Tennesee Williams, Vincent Van Gogh,Ernest Hemingway and Winston Churchill all of whom were people with a mental illness!

I love Charlie Rose's show because it's one of the few places on television that takes time to interview people who are doing things that make a difference in our world. I think you can see that Ted Turner is not trying to be slick, or trying to trick people. He's just telling the truth. It's not common these days for people with power and money to try and make things better for everyone on Earth. I don't understand why people think it's so wacky to want to abolish nuclear weapons and clean up our environment. We need clean air and water don't we? Since this interview, all I've heard is did you hear Ted say we are all going to be cannibals...well, he made his point. Is that all you heard? What else did he say? I say thanks to the Mouth of the South. All that noise he's been making forever is starting to pay off, now with companies striving to go green.

I should correct a book reference I made from memory and was wrong in my previous post. The correct title and author is: "The Che Guevara Myth and the Future of Liberty" by Alvaro Vargas Llosa, The Independent Institute, 2006. If people will read this book and the other one I referenced, those who ignorantly praise Guevara and Castro will have their illusions cured.

I liked the interview. He acknowledged he had foot in mouth disease at times. His doomsday approach to global warming was provocative and a call to action. Anyone who simply states he is absolutely wrong ignores the aquifers emptying, recurring drought in the United States, water wars in the Middle East, and pollution out of control. Back in 6th grade I learned something called the Law of Conservation of Matter. It's basic conclusion with respect to water would be that there's always the same amount but it will be gaseous, or ice, or liquid. It's the distribution of it, the salinity of it and the polluting of it that will eventually matter.

On this show what I most commonly learn is how human all people are. This man is an icon and more financially and politically powerful than 99 percent of the globe, but I could easily imagine meeting him at a dinner party. I was shocked about how open he was. His willingness to talk about this dissapointment in his marriages, which implied he felt lonely. I also learned that very succesful people forgive themselves for the mistakes they make. They do not have a delusion of grandeur. They expect to be imperfect.

Those who say Charlie should stop interrupting Ted Turner, need to take into consideration the skill required to lead such a great conversation. Charlie is very intelligent and informed on many issues. There is a reason world leaders from all backgrounds feel honored to speak on his show and he deserves to have an opinion for the sake of stimulating conversation. Ted Turner is Obviously a bit eccentric with a strong personality and sweeping claims on a broad range topics. His approach is nonetheless honest and genuine. The conversation - including the interruptions on both sides, was one of friendly and spirited discourse from colleagues whose aim is to enlighten individuals and societies on these important issues. This was Charlie at his best - getting Ted to sing was great! Charlie Rose is an American institution. Excellent show! Good show. Great Conversation. Thank You Joseph

We're all entitled to our opinions, but is hostility necessary or productive for that matter? Glad you're not on the UN council. I, for one, do believe Mr. Turner is correct in his order of priorities for the next president.....the clock is ticking. Oh please... Believe blindly in a certain religious dogma("GOD"), wipe your hands clean of any personal responsibility over the care of our planet, the only planet that supports life. God will "save" us from our sins and Jesus will just show up at the apocalyse and stop our current ignorance and everything will be OK. Get real. Ignorance will be the end of humanity, not whether we believe or not in certain religious dogma. God gave us this fantastic planet to be creative and live, it is also our personal responsibility to take care of it. I have never understood why certain religious teachings promote the idea of our ultimate destruction. We create what we think about. So by accepting "the end" blindly, we will inherrantly create this reality. Even though Ted Turner sounds quite naive at understating the complexity of human problems, the truth is that if we don't do the things that he states we may not survive as a human race.

MORON!!!!!Ted Turners views on population control, global warming, Iraq, China, Russia, Afghanistan, Vietnam, and almost every other subject are UNEDUCATED AND JUVENILE. The following is just another example of his total disconnect with reality. Remember North Korea tested a nuke on Oct. 9 2006. Ted Turner: "I am absolutely convinced that the North Koreans are absolutely sincere. There's really no reason for them to cheat [on nukes\....I looked them right in the eyes. And they looked like they meant the truth. I mean, you know, just because somebody's done something wrong in the past doesn't mean they can't do right in the future or the present. That happens all the, all the time." Wolf Blitzer: "But this is one of the most despotic regimes and Kim Jong-Il is one of the worst men on Earth. Isnt that a fair assessment?" Turner: "Well, I didn't get to meet him, but he didn't look in the pictures that I've seen of him on CNN, he didn't look too much different than most other people I've met." Blitzer: "But, look at the way, look at the way he's, look at the way he's treating his own people." Turner: "Well, hey, listen. I saw a lot of people over there. They were thin and they were riding bicycles instead of driving in cars, but "Blitzer: "A lot of those people are starving. "Turner: "I didn't see any, I didn't see any brutality...." Exchange on CNN's The Situation Room, September 19, 2005. TED SHOULD STOP THINKING AND START READING.

Thank you again Charlie for constantly providing such intellectualy stimulating programs. i watched your show today from Montreal, Canada. Ted Turner is a very intelligent man. There was alot of wisdom in many of the things that he said, clearly, with conviction, and simplicity. It was supurb. Deplete and destroy the planet, and we destroy ourselves. Ignore the poverty, sickness and suffering in the world, and in my view, reap well founded resentment and hostility. And an ongoing threat of treatment resistant diseases eventually crossing continents into our priveleged homelands. i hope Mr. Turner shares his ideas in a widely read best seller book. There is power in his message in that it doesn't even call to altruism. Just basic survival instincts and common sense.

This was a terrific show. It was a conversation and a very real one as often happens on Charlie Rose. Turner is charming , honest, gutsy opionated, very smart, and also very stupid. Charlie Rose was appreciative and friendly, but also on the tough part when Turner spouted his nonsense about the Iraqis being 'freedom fighters' and not radical Islamic maniacs Charlie stood up a bit for the American side. Turner is an old - type one- worlder. Much of what he says makes a lot of sense. Much of what he says is simplistic drivel. His failure to criticize the Chinese for what they are doing to the Tibetans also puts him a bit in the self- righteous hypocritical category. His singing especially of "Ole Kentucky Home' was really a nice part of the show. Most human. I have seen a lot of Charlie Rose shows. This was a very very good one.

Good 'ol Ted - the gift that keeps on giving. Lefties who still love Castro - a murdering dictator who has 200-300 political prisoners in jail today. Read "Che Guevara on Revolution" by Jay Mallin and "The Real Che Guevara" by Alvaro to see what these two scoundrels really did in their past and is continued by the Castros to this day. Read some reputable articles on the horrid state of Cuba today for its people - and don't believe any of Michael Moore's propaganda. Ted's environmental comments are right out of the UN's "Agena 21" treatise for government control of population and every aspect of rigid controls of the economy and environment by far left environmental groups and governments supported by billions of dollars from far-left foundations such as Ford, Turner (you got it), Mott and numerous others. He never mentioned "nuclear power" which is the only realistic solution to greenhouse emmissions on a large scale. "Renewables" will never be more than a 10-20% solution, if that. Modern nuclear power technology and waste recycling techniques are safe - as France is utilizing today. If Turner doesn't think the Chinese are spending massively on their military, he is just ignorant. They are building some the best and quietest submarines in the world today and have extensive and secret intelligence networks the world over. As for the Vietnam War, North Vietnam invaded South Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh said he would sacrifice millions of soldiers lives to win the war. Apparently, no one told Ted the earth is still in an ice age (see: Harm de Blij's "Why Geography Matters" - he is one of the world's best geographers) but we are currently in an "inter-glacial warming period" which have lasted 10-12,000 years each. We are about 10,000 years into the current inter-glacial and will return to a 100,000 year glacial period at some point - some scientists believe we may be doing so now. In the past 400,000 years, there have been four 100,000 year glacial and four inter-glacial periods - read "The Life and Death of Planet Earth" by Ward and Brownlee. Ted, "deep left?" oh yeah. But, hey, he has his ranches and buffalo and he earned them. It is too bad he is deluded on so many issues.

If Ted Turner is anything, he is a megalomaniac - so much so that it provides for great amusement. I was particularly amused by his proclamation of great intelligence - apparently the ticket to great wisdom is making millions and buying access to mass media. Leave it to a liberal to make an argument that his opinions are well-grounded because of self-proclaimed intelligence - who needs logical foundation when theatrical pomp is more than sufficient?

After leaving my comment, I read those of folks who have a problem with Charlie's interruptions. Personally, I'm happy to leave the steering to Charlie. What makes a great Charlie Rose hour is that he and his guests have a conversation, not an interview. The quintessential CR conversation has a natural flow. Occasionally, I think, "Hey, let the guest go where he's going." But by the end of the hour, we usually get there anyway. I never get the sense that his interjections are premeditated or ego-based. They're based on his enthusiasm for the subject at hand and his intense curiousity. That enthusiasm and curiousity, displayed in great conversation, is exactly why I have been watching for going on 25 years.

Everybody and their dogs are begging him to stop this disgusting habit, his guests, his viewers, likely also his producer(if he has one), surely his real friends (if he had any), but no,he is on a mission to show the world how atrocious an interviewer he can be. Great to see Ted Turner speak clearly and straight to the point - not allowing himself to be dragged down into partisan this or that or the "armchair patriotism" that has blinded this this country so long we think it's reality. I imagine him in the same league with Teddy Roosevelt. Although he does speak his mind without hesitation, it's obvious that he's put a lot of thought into these things which is why he's so passionate about them. As far as Charlie Rose interupting - that's OK by me, because Ted can and will hold his own, plus Charlie's interuptions actually stimulate a man like Ted Turner to rise above the petty good-guy/bad-guy chatter that only serves the thoughtless. Excellent show - more, much more!

An exceptional interview!...(with the exception of too many interuptions from Charlie) It was intellectual, stimulating, funny and dead on. Turner was honest about his shortcomings and honest about his goals. A great interview on a great show.

Thank you Ted Turner: for telling Charlie Rose to STOP INTERRUPTING. I cannot stand watching the charlie rose show, due only to the constant, guest interruption by Charlie Rose. I want to hear what the guests want to say, NOT what Charlie Rose has to say. The constant, constant, constant, endless interrupting, and cutting your guests off is very rude, ( it is as if Charlie thinks his opinion is more important), Thank you Ted Turner for telling Charlie more than 4 times to stop interrupting you. I would like to hear 95% less of Charlie Roses opinion, voice, and rude interruptions, then I would start watching the Rose show again. Right now, I think Charlie Rose is the most annoying interviewer on TV. Mary

We have Ted Turner giving an even more dire account of global warming than the IPCC, but without the expected (by the IPCC) warming since about 1998, and we've just come off a winters that were cold in both the northern and southern hemispheres. There is an intellectual turf battle going on between the climate modeling community and many physicists, who have hit upon a significant mechanism for cooling the planet that was unknown when the IPCC started their targeting of fossil fuel use. Galactic cosmic rays (GCR) from supernovae, actually help seed clouds as they pass through and ionize the lower atmosphere, and our Sun's magnetic fields and solar wind modulate the GCR that actually hits our planet. The physicists aren't being quiet, but the popular media tends to ignore them, relying instead upon folks like Al Gore (and Ted Turner) who give simple messages to simple audiences. A Danish documentary, The Cloud Mystery (Klimamysteriet) does a good job of presenting scientists like Dr. Svensmark of Denmark, Dr. Shaviv of Israel and Dr. Veizer of Canada (and Germany), talking about their research and the evidence for the cosmic connection. Charlie Rose, you would do well to have Henrik Svensmark (a director of the Danish National Space Center) or Dr. Nir Shaviv (a young and very dynamic professor of astrophysics in Israel). There is more to the climate than CO2. http://spacecenter.dk/research/sun-climate/other/global-warming

With the world facing so many problems today, it would be good to have another Charlie Rose round table to address them. The panel would consist of successful business minds who care about improving the world and promote welfare for all. Exclude politicians, political pundits, academic ivory tower types, entertainers, etc. For this we need pragmatic, rational, thoughtful and workable ideas. Can't think of anyone better than Ted Turner on this panel.

All I have to say is you are a coward Charlie! I mean you let this guy spew out idealogical bullshit right and left without even bringing up the other side of the argument. Turner goes from calling insurgents "patriots" which is funny seeing as how a lot of them aren't even citizens of Iraq. How is that possible? Turner goes from basically calling America evil to then talking about his good buddy Fidel Castro without you even saying anything. It's so ironic and pathetic I have nothing further to say.

Ted got in his hits to Charlie, so quit telling Charlie to quit interrupting. I never paid much attention to Ted Turner, so I know little about his business abilities. I enjoyed the program for the way it progressed. We need a little relieve from economy, elections, and war. Good timing Charlie Rose.

Ted Turner is a loon! Being rich and obnoxious are not currency and certainly do not buy him the attention required to listen to his assinine dissertations on global policy. The only worthwhile point to be taken from this entire entry, is the comparison to Al Gore who likewise believes, while wallowing in a pool of his self-satisfied ego-centric ramblings, that the vast populace that do not agree with him are incapable of coherent thought (and are analogous to those that believe in a flat-earth). This is the mindset of the criminally insane, not the humble civil servant. Further, these are the type of total nutjobs that make the thoughtful and pointed commentary of Dick Cheney so valuable and refreshing .

Ted Turner is a great Bodhisattva, a fine human being. Wish Charlie has more self-restraint and not interrupt the guest so much. Many precious minutes are lost because of his uncontrollable urges. Charlie owe us one: invite Ted Turner back again soon! And next time try not to put words in the guest's mouth and force the guest to correct and amend the distorted perceptions. After all that's been said, this is an excellent episode.

I thought Ted Turner was brilliant. The man cuts to the chase and is so sensible. He should be tapped for V.P. Better yet, I think he would make a great President. One who has the right priorities. Perhaps Charlie can turn down his ego a bit and turn up good manners and not constantly interupt. He and Chris Matthews (Hardball)repeatedly interupt thier guests before they've made thier point. Class up, Charlie and Chris.

Twenty-four ditto's on the rave reviews of the interview with Ted Turner. He is a "stand alone" if there ever was one. Daniel Patrick Moynihan's "Lies we allow to stand will devour us all," comes to mind. True to Thomas Payne's Common Sense, Plain Speech, Mr. Turner laid bare the devouring lies of our time. Indeed, refreshing straight talk! Move over Christopher Higgins. I do believe Mr. Turner may well best you in popularity.

I rarely write to tv shows but I had to now. Ted Turner has always been my hero. He's the only person in the US I think who has the very same concerns and opinions about almost EVERYTHING (I didn't like Reagant because he helped end unionism and advanced an ugly kind of globalism) that I do and so rare in public eye. Like him I've put my money where my mouth is, designed & built a passive solar home In New Mexico in 1980,etc. not too far from one of his ranches. I would bet he will vote for Obama, would have supported Edwards, and thinks the world of Kucinich but realizes he's not charasmatic enough to win. If Ted had kept CNN, I think the world could have been different today but I think the more powerful were afraid of him and forced him out. Please have him on more and let him speak uninterrupted by silly questions about irrelevent matters and singing. The world is in crisis and few recognize the gravity of our 'snowball headed to hell'. And you were wrong to imply that he's out in left field and that his solutions were not the only sane reasonable choices. I wish TT could be next president! He needs a public forum. Maybe PBS could give him a show? Thanks for having him on.

An awesome show tonight Charlie. I tuned in fully expecting to watch a few minutes and hit the record button on the DVR. Now it is 12:45 in the AM and I am still up tapping out this message. Ted Turner is a one of a kind, broke the mold inspiration and a delight to watch and listen to. And you Mr Rose... You are awesome also. Your intellect, easy humor, and compassion bring so much to the table. I have watched you for years and you have always been very good at what you do, but it seems that something has happened in the last while. You seem so comfortable in your own skin, you have elevated the conversation to a higher level. Thank you, Charlie for all your good work.

I have watched CR for many years, and this interview with Ted Turner is the best I have ever seen. Turner is simply right about every single issue: environment, politics, commerce, and history. Many of us are appalled that nuclear disarmament has been forgotten by our leaders - there is Turner declaring it the most important priority. We are appalled at the lack of action on climate change - there he is vividly painting the appalling picture we face if we don't act. Some of us think Harry Truman was a war criminal who killed millions of Japanese innocents - there is Turner giving that tough medicine to Americans who need to hear it. Many of us remain disgusted at the Vietnam War and the toll it took on Vietnamese society - there is Turner to remind us of who really suffered in that war. And so on. If only more wealthy, powerful Americans could free themselves of their indoctrination and think as clearly as Ted Turner.

So damn real. Direct. No pretensions. Idealistic to a fault. We have over 10,000 + nukes. The wisdom to defuse them is unfortunately nonexistent on the planet. But nice thought nonetheless. Teds world would be so surreal by comparison. Too bad.

I truly enjoyed listening to Ted Turner. He's outspoken and blunt. He shoots straight from the hip. Charlie Rose could hardly get a word in edge-wise. It was funny at some points. What is interesting is that Ted noted the "double standard" or "hypocrisy" of American ideals - which made Charlie a tad-bit uncomfortable.

LOVE TED TURNER. I WANT TO BE ON THE SIDE THAT HE'S ON. HE IS CLEAR. THERE'S NO MYSTERY ABOUT WHAT WE NEED TO DO. TOO BAD HE CAN'T DISMANTLE CORPORATE CONTROL OF THE PLANET. JUST SO THERE'S NO CONFUSION CHARLIE, BUSH IS IN THE DUMB CATEGORY, RUMSFELD, BREMER - ALL THE YAHOOS THAT WE SEE PORTRAYED IN FRONTLINE'S BUSH'S WAR. TURNER ISN'T WORRYING ABOUT HIS "EGO." HE DID IT, HE WON BIG AND LOST AND NOW HE'S LIKE THAT'S NOT THE PARADIGM THAT WILL KEEP US ALL ALIVE. WIN - LOSE WE'RE BEYOND THAT, OBVIOUSLY. IF YOU'RE DEAD, WHO WINS? WAR, PASSE, OF COURSE. IF BUSH WOULD HAVE PAYED ATTENTION TO WHAT HE THOUGHT, A LA TED TURNER, INSTEAD OF HANDING THE REINS OVER TO MEN WITH PETTY CONCERNS... IF ONLY. ON ANOTHER NOTE.... "OVER HIS HEAD...." SAME WILL BE SAID IF GOD FORBID OBAMA WINS. LIKE BUSH WHEN HE WON ON "VALUES" OBAMA IS "CHANGE" AND..... HEAVEN HELP THE WORLD IF PEOPLE JUST FOLLOW TEENAGERS AND "POPULARITY" TO THEIR DESTRUCTION. BUT PEOPLE GET THE LEADERS THEY DESERVE. AGAIN, TED IS A GREAT MAN. LOVE HIM!!!!!!!! AND GLAD THAT HE'S MADE ENOUGH MONEY THAT PEOPLE LISTEN TO HIS REASON.... OR RATHER MEN WILL LISTEN TO HIS ENLIGHTENED AND YES SPIRITUAL REASON. AMEN.
