i came unto her expressly looking for a fresh perspective away from the toxicity of cable news and rush limbaugh, sean hannity and chris matthews politics. I think this has been one of the most instructive interviews so far on where to go. I think it gives me perspective and makes a possible obama candidacy more inviting to me. I've heard him say the other day that he'd be actively looking for dissenting views where he needs to make a decision,and he's shown a certain willingness to do so on a few of his public addresses. I think that because both senator Hagel and senator Obama (they worked on nuclear legislation together) have about the same vision for foreign policy, and because sen. Hagel is bound to be an independent voice, he'd be very useful in an Obama administration. The possibility of an endorsement is really titillating to me.
Hagel was good. Loved the "endorsement" of Obama. Regarding Iraq, I liked the "need to talk to John [McCain\" comment. I think Hagel's views reflected an interesting segment of current American political thinking. Too bad it's not a larger segment. I expect to be disappointed in November.

Outstanding interview into the mind of congress. I think overall the congress finds themselves ineffecive and I think that's what the interview brought to bear. They sold out. What peeves me to write today is it seems every day I hear referenced a saying by colin powell, "you break it, you own it" or something to that effect. And it's like the battle hymn of the republic. And they use this as an excuse for staying in Iraq, to what exactly, to own it...certainly not to fix it. Just where does a saying like that come from anyway, the great halls of Annapolis. What about responsibility! they say. And just what will history have to say to that...Well history you know, that's an abstract notion only gifted future beings can consider, who knows? Pull troops out of Iraq, preposterous! It's broke, we can't pull the troops out, see colin powell chapter 1, verse 1. Oh but I'm for pulling the troops out but I'm hung up on just how to do that. After all...we can't just leave. And on and on. Charlie you have such great compassion to put up with these politicians. And to your credit you put the matter on the table. Now I don't know Mr. Hagel from adam, and like so many people charlie brings to the table, I'm like well, here's an interesting guy, seems bright, speaks well, good posture, a senator!! I found the interview facinating, thank you charlie.
I am tired of politicians not understanding what is happening in the politics of today. What is the big mystery surrounding Obama's appeal? Why doesn't anyone understand that we as a nation are suffering under the weight silence that the Bush Administration lied their way into the war? Isn't this the crime against our Democracy and Constitution that has taken us down? Chuck Hagel was at a point in talking of how he was lied to (even though he would not use the word so bold as LIE) when you changed the subject Charlie. Is having our politicians all trained as lawyers a reason for their fear? Are they afraid of being sued? What is all this silence about? Why do you seek answers from those who can not speak of lies? And economically we are straining under the great influence of Friedman economics where the dark side of free business practices has led to the creation of investment vehicles intended simply to maximize profit for no ethical reason what so ever. These are what the public sees.
If Hagel prostitutes himself and becomes a lobbyist, he'll become a hypocrital venal whore overnight. I'll wait.
