What a refreshing example of smart, thoughtful journalism. It's a shame Ms. Rubin, and many others like her, aren't seen and heard more widely - especially in DC.

I agree Bob, I couldn't have put it better myself. She was only biased to her opinion as a journalist. It's something amazing and different to see.

I'm so disappointed that we haven't seen Ron Paul as part of your "Candidates" series. It is a loss those who value ideas. Ron Paul always says that the tougher and sticker the issue, the larger the need for local control. Up till now, I've always thought of your show as proving a corollary point, that the more incisive and revolutionary the thinker, the more obvious the fit with the Charlie Rose show. How can you not include Dr. Paul in your series on the 2008 elections? Ron Paul is the elephant in America's living room, and you are acting like he's not there at all.

"President Boyle will not announce the number of troop reductions in Irag or any other theatre of war to the enemy. That information should be classified to allow our military to be flexible." The presidetial candidate Thomas Boyle was quoted as saying today.

I thought Allissa Rubin was remarkable. She represents what we have not seen in a long time real journalism. Someone who is doing their own leg work, and is thus able to present a clear picture of reality instead of a sound byte. Even Charlie could not knock her off course, with his "Petreus magic" (sp) comment. Sometime in the Bush administration we lost real journalism. Maybe it was because they had to sign oaths, or maybe it was because they got the news spoon fed to them, or maybe it was because they were afraid to be a single voice, and buck the trend when the nation was 94 percent behind Bush; but for whatever reason we now see news by consensus. It seems they huddle together in some cocktail party to figure out what is happening outside. They all seem to agree in a remarkable way, no matter the outlet. And we are seeing it again with the election coverage. I am sure it is a lot easier, than what Alissa is doing, and I am sure it is seductive. Hats off to Alissa. Lets see more of her, and more like her.
