I viewed the Charlie Rose interview, saw the movie and then watched the Charlie Rose interview again. The comment by Khalid Abdalla describing this extraordinary experience of bringing this story to life in a strange land with people speaking many languages is the real story and experience.
It is a kind of a novel that everybody at any age can read easily and have fun. The best part of it is that it relates to our age and its ups and downs.
It is real gift that the writer, the filmmaker and the film crew have given to our world. We saw this film Jan 19 in Germany. It tells story that has touched our hearts. Both Hassan and Amir are characters that we can relate to. This film informs people all over the world not only the dark face of conflict but also shows us hope. It reflects not only the depths to which humans can fall to, but also to the heights that people can rise. Hassan is a real inspiration; representing, love, loyalty, strength and courage. It also makes us want to do something positive, to be good each other and appreciate life that we have. Thank you so much for writing this book and for making this film. We pray for the people in Afghanistan and all those in conflict/post-conflict areas of the world.
Kite Runner is finally in my region and my friend and I got to see it this afternoon. It is one marvelous movie. Thanks
I first heard about the book from seeing young person after young person reading it on the bus and subway and one just carrying it in the coffee bar. I started to ask - what do you think of it? (Real book lovers will answer that question from a stranger) and everyone said it was fantastic. So now I own the book and am finally going to read it over the holidays. I didnt see this interview on purpose - I want to read the book first - but I heard that the movie is true to the book so if I like one I will like the other. I cant wait to be transported. Joseph: The book is also called "The Kite Runner" and it is written by Khalid Hosseini. I haven't watched this interview yet, but heard well of it.
Thanks Charlie Rose for this great interview, I will be going to the movies to see this one. I especially enjoyed the film clips. Hope you have flown kites in your lifetime. I found myself really wanting to see that movie, when the program ended, I was careless. I was going for a walk, with temps in low 30s'. I put the wrong keys in my pocket and did not put the garage door remote in the other pocket. How about I send you the bill fronm the locksmith, so I could get back into my warm house????????? Oh well it was just an idea.
