Sam is a great actor, very good looking, charming, extremely sexy, specially, that smile...just takes my breath away, If I could meet someone, Sam Elliot would be that someone. Keep making more movies, like Ghost rider. Romance like Mask, Sam and his bike, make a beautiful couple.

I've loved Sam Elliott as far back as I can remember. I've loved his movies for years. He brings such feeling to each and every part he plays. His voice is so sexy yet strong. You just can't get any better than Sam Elliott. I feel he is the super, super star.

I felt near-total agreement with all of those who posted comments regarding Sam Elliot and his memorable performances in various movies; I am able only to "ditto" those comments made by all those posting them. He becomes more attractive and talented as time goes on.

Just go see the movie. Sam Elliott is correct. The 'gist" of it is what some call 'free will', as Sam discussed. It was a fun movie, well done, and leaves you wondering how they will do the next book. It could have surely been a tad longer... but that is show business, in my opinion.

Cookie - Haven't you ever called the PBS switchboard before? "Hello, you want to speak with Mr. Rose? Sure thing doll, hang on, he's coughing up another hairball".

Hey George - I think you are right. He DID kinda grunt it. But you could read it as contempt at the idea that the movie was anti_Catholic. I mean, one of my favorite ever guests is an Italian Priest. But I gotta tell ya, I laughed hard at the thought that PBS has a switch board.

Shane - are you saying that the interviewer shouldn't have an understanding of the controversy about the subject of the person he's interviewing? In my book thats just a commercial for the movie. And sorry, if Rose said "Gay" the way he said "Catholic", the PBS switchboard would have been lighting up and he would have gone the way of Imus.

Bigot? Hardly. You're completely exagerrating the expression he made. How is he supposed to know every detail on the Catholic subject anways? Plus, I thought it was kind of endearing the way he tried to say Lyra.

I never realized that Charlie Rose was such a bigot until I saw this interview. Did you see the way he screwed up his eyes and leaned down to the right, almost to the floor, as he said the word "Catholic" like he was puking up a hairball??? And there's Sam Elliott saying what a saint (hah) Philip Pullman is and what great literiture the book series is! Elliott made half a dozen false claims ("the US Council of Catholic Bishops have endorsed this movie"), yet Rose makes NO attempt at clarifying these claims or telling the truth about them, then quickly changes the subject entirely! Elliott was there selling his movie about the "Evil" Magistarium (teaching arm of the Catholic Church), and Charlie Rose was there in league with him.

CHARLEEEEE you gave it awaaaaaaaay! Reminds me of the time I fell asleep at the end of the dvd of "The last temptation of Christ" and I woke up the next morning and asked how it ended. Anyway, Sam's a nice guy. If I met him, I would tell him I liked his work and wished he did more love stories...he has a wicked gleam. He could also play a Wall Street exec or big biz aw shucks tycoon who is so laid back it comes as a shocker what devious sob he is. I think I saw that movie but I'd seeit again with Sam.

What a terrific interview this was with Sam Elliott. He again proves himself to be an intelligent gentleman with a captivating personality. I was lucky enough to meet and talk with Sam briefly at a recent premiere for "The Golden Compass." He was most gracious and it was a very special moment for me.

Sam Elliott is the greatest actor I know. He is 'up there' with Mel Gibson and Clint Eastwood, he has had them way outdone since his early films. I love and collect all of his films that I can find, but mostly admire his acting in 'Road House', 'Tombstone', and 'Fatal Beauty'. He is the only celebrity that has stayed with his family and you don't hear any rotten gossip about. He is a true American and Western Hero in my eyes!!!!!!!! Bar None.

I look forward to seeing Sam Elliot. Have followed his career for a long time. Saw him on "The View" this week. He was GREAT. The ladies couldn't keep their hands off him. I loved all the movies, especially with Whoppi, the Mission Impossible role, the series- the Yellow Rose of Texas, westerns with Tom Selleck and of course his beautiful voice on the commercials, etc. etc. It's about time he is getting the recognition he deserves.
