4/13/2008- Thought so- vaguely remembered this interview when everything looked rosy for this lady- not looking so good now is it? Why do our politicians all allow power to go to their heads and consequently end up doing something really stupid? I am becoming more and more cynical about all of them- Democrats and Republicans alike- are there no true patriots among them? So disenchanted I am seriously considering not voting anymore- is this the beginning of the USA becoming another fallen empire?

great interview= great mayor? huh? yes, she and Mr.Rose got on well...but anyone who has had to live with the excessive rent hikes she has endorsed isn't looking for a convivial interview subject. if Ms Quinn wants voters to make her mayor she can make the annual rent increase reflect real world living expenses for real voters ...not the real estate owners she might like to write checks for a mayorial campaign.

Great interview. Great City Council Speaker. And she will be a great Mayor. Frank Tuna: Sonny Carson "fiasco"? Hardly. Barron and his ilk showed their true colors, while Quinn provided leadershio. A refreshing change from past City councils. She's the real deal.

Her constituents are sick of her, period. She has little clout in the rest of the city, alienating any number of people. (don't even count the Sonny Carson fiasco -- she's already alienated most people before that happened). She's been grabbing money from real estate like crazy. Even her own political club in Chelsea is thinking about supporting someone else. Of course she gets on Charlie Rose through Amanda Burden who allegedly is Rose's main interest. Burden is the worst City Planning chair in decades and is tearing down neighborhoods across the city.

dear beth, if she lived in your city you would have noticed - unhappily, if you rent an apartment in one of the five boroughs of nyc as i do - that for the first time in years your annually voted upon rent increase was nearly double what the per annum raise alloted to most working people. this has been a real squeeze on many many new yorkers. the very ones she says she is concerned about being priced out of the city. it was a great concern when Charlie Rose commented that the landowners of nyc hold great political clout. if anyone reading this shares my concern that someone too repsonsive to the pockets of the financial elite who run and own new york city is thinking about a run for mayor (or more immediately if you are just worried what increase they are going to push for this summer) then let's send a message: DEAR CHRISTINE QUINN, YOU WILL ONLY GET MY VOTE IF YOU SHOW PRIORITY FOR THE MAJORITY (NOT THE ELITE LANDOWNERS) OF NEW YORKERS. PUT OUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS; NO MORE RENT HIKES. YOU SAY YOUR TOP CONCERN IS THE HIGH COST OF LIVING FOR THOSE OF US LIVING IN NYC. IF THAT IS THE TRUTH RETURN THE INCREASE TO 2.5% FOR ONE YEAR AND 4% FOR TWO YEARS. SHOW ME THAT YOU KNOW THE VOTES OF THE MASSES ARE GREATER THAN THAT OF THE ELITE FEW WHO MIGHT DONATE TO A CAMPAIGN,BUT AT A VOTING BOOTH ONLY HAVE ONE TURN. THIS UPCOMING ANNUAL RENT INCREASE REVIEW IS YOUR CHANCE TO GET- OR LOSE- MY VOTE FOR YOUR POLITICAL FUTURE. MAKE NO RENT INCREASE BEYOND THE TYPICAL RAISE INCREASE. HERE IN NYC WE ALL SADLY KNOW RAISES HAVE BEEN AT A STANDSTILL FOR TOO MANY YEARS. DON'T MAKE IT WORSE FOR THE MAJORITY OF YOUR POTENTIAL VOTERS. MAKE IT BETTER CHRISTINE. DO THAT AND MY VOTE WILL HAPPILY BE YOURS. TEVO DURHAM
