It really upset me to hear Mr. Burns tonight. The Bush Administration is trying to convince the American people that we need to bomb Iran. I think that such a move would destroy our democracy and military. If they plan to start a draft (which I believe would be the only way we could do this) you will see the biggest rebellion America has ever seen. Then again I guess Bush could use his private army (Blackwater) which has reached over 100,000 without competitive bidding and they have better pay, arms and equipment than our Armed forces have. I hear there are hundreds that have resigned from the military to join Blackwater. Interesting isn't it.
I'm fairly certain that Peter Baker works for the Washington Post, not the Washington Times as the summary indicates. The sign behind him in the clip certainly says "Washington Post".
Bush does not really understand rationality (or he thinks that the American public does not understand rationality ...). Majority of his arguments are fallacious, intentionnaly or not. Convictions without substanciation, generally of the kind: "I would not be President if I was taking bad decisions for my People, and I am President, thefore I am taking good decisions for my People. No question about it." Probably never heard of what is a petitio principii. 10 years old logic set rigidly in a religious fixation about the nature of Good.
Of course he is at ease. That's because he gets to play president, not be a real president. He loves campaigning and bs'ing, that's clear, but when it comes to policy he is completely clueless and that's why he is so happy and blissful. He lets his staff do all the dirty work, Cheney do all the strategic thinking and when it comes to Iraq ? Oh well, that'll sort itself out, somehow. Me, worry, though ? An Alfred E. Neuman if we ever saw one. Brilliant that guy. I read somewhere today that extreme incompetence is indistinguishable from evil in its results and that is so true with Bush, isn't it ?
Thank whoever and whatever gave President Bush the ability to stand up to those that believe freedom comes easy. In many ways our nation could not exist if the popular opinion was followed. It will not be until my children's children are of age, that the fruits of what has finally been started in the Middle East will bare fruit. So, for those out there that want nothing more then to hear their echo, learn by listening, not by voicing ever louder to a popular opinion.
No, this is too much. If this is the worst period in American political history, we should be rioting the streets of Washington DC. We should be violent. Throw off our oppressor. Extremism calls for extremism.
I'm sure the only book he ever reads is The Bible. Whoever is reading this, remember, a person's memory lives on in the people remembering it. We vow to remember that this man is an idiot! Remember that. He shall have no legacy but a long trail of disgrace.
Bush supposed introspection comes a little late, reeks of self-pity and superficiality,is thoroughly self-serving and not in the least self-critical. In other words, worthless. He is a hopeless case, utterly clueless, pathetic, lacking any remorse about all of his catastrophic decisions who does not recognize he has the blood of untold victims on his hands. This image of a suddenly philosophical Bush advanced by Baker in the WaPo article does not seem credible. Ditto the story about his reading Shakespeare and 10 or 20 books a month. Please. I found this interview depressing.
Oblivious? Yeah, that works. I would add clueless, as well. The President and his crew have miscalculated this war from the beginning. The rest of the world was with us when we went into Afghanistan. We had a legitimate target in bin Laden. Why is it so overlooked that Bush lost that support when we changed focus toward Iraq? I'm tired of the lies and denials. This presidency has been an utter disaster for this country. How many of our troops in Iraq do you suppose would rather be patroling our own borders or going directly after bin Laden right now? Instead - for the first three years of this war - we had our troops driving around waiting to be shot at or blown up. And, we allowed this without the proper protective gear. I can't imagine there has been a more embarassing and dispiriting period in our history.
King George.
