I saw this play last year, and it was great; I'm really looking forward to the film (even though Peter Morgan says he originally wrote it so it couldn't be filmed!). I missed this interview when it was first aired, and I've been looking for it ever since. Thanks for making it available here! I hadn't realized before that both Helen Mirren and Forest Whitaker owed part of their Oscars to Peter Morgan's writing. I was happy that they both won, but it's a shame that Michael Sheen wasn't even nominated. (My one disappointment in this interview is that an equal number of questions weren't directed to Mr. Sheen as to the other two, as they spent a lot of time talking about two of Peter Morgan's projects that he was seen in simultaneously.)
I appreciate the conversation these gentlemen had. This is a play, not a historical documentary. Views and opinions were being discussed here. Insight and information was freely offered to help give understanding on the type of show they tried to create and the experiences they had portraying the characters. I am honored these people gave of themselves to present us a story. It took hard work and effort to bring this to us.
Many thanks for having this great interview online. Michael Sheen and Peter Morgan are 2 people I admire greatly. To Joseph, the previous poster, try actually listening to an interview before commenting - wrongly - on what is said. You got the interpretation totally incorrect.
OMG. i'm turning this off...as soon as peter morgan said he admires tony blaire...that's it...i'm outta here and will not see this play. if you want to see an incredible performance go see liev schreiber in "talk radio". this morgan seems like a supporter of british corruption. this is the man who wrote "the queen" which further supported the official story of diane's death. langella is a great actor and i'm sorry i won't be able to bring myself to see this. judging from the clip, langella's performance is superb and i'm a big fan of michael sheen but i cannot in all consciousness support a playwright who says he admires tony blair. while these four sit here and laugh and pat each other on the back, more than a half million people have been murdered in iraq because of the blair/bush alliance of deceit. and these three british guys here have the audacity to bring up 9/11. what is there to admire about a leader who supports the contrived "connection" between iraq and 9/11?
Okay. I'm sold. Bought tickets. Can't eat for a month, but hey, art is food, right? Thanks.
Brilliant as usual. I so appreciate being able to watch here. I see the beginning now as I was able to see the ending of the show on the television set on the day it was aired. Now I am reading the New Yorker article about Morgan and can just jump onto this. We get you late in NC. And we admire your choices and abilities so much. Thank you Charlie.
An outstanding hour of conversation with four enormously gifted men! The depth of insight and compassion which Frank Langella evidences for Nixon's character is wonderful. I pray that Peter Morgan can continue to bring plays of this quality to the stage. The play, and this conversation, are antidotes to the malaise of our current situation. Thank you, Charlie. Your interviews, and Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, are about the only programs that feed my soul.
