. I have been writing about why Al Gore should be the next president of the United States for the last year and half, and you can read about the reasons on the following Forum â?? As an African American woman I was offended by your show. How many men could you line up to bash Hillary? How the press is beating this woman up. Being an "expert" on the power of subterranean bigotry, I kept waiting for Mr Alter to mention "residual sexism". That is a definite undercurrent. Why hasn't that been addressed? I have alway thought that this country would elect a black male before a woman of any type. Sexism has hemmed this woman in from the beginning. Remarkably, that gets no mention. And remarkably, she keep rolling along. God I hope she survives this "Hannah Montana-like" surge of support and the virtual droolfest among the media. BTW, let's not get carried away with comparison between JFK and Obama. Remember the Bay of Pigs? Remember the Cuban missile crisis? The world is far more dangerous now. Gone are the bogeymen of the cold war. Charismatic leaders are for fairy tales--not for a country knee-deep in Bush's mess.

Never before as in November of 2008 the United States had the need to elect a potential statesman as the new president to lead the country into the rough waters that it is just ahead, but instead Americans are in denial and they think it is business as usual. Itâ??s sad to see such a great country be in complete free fall and itâ??s citizens are not even aware of what is going on. The country is in the edge of the abyss â?? and we can make a long list of why the United States is reaching the end of the road â?? ahead we have the perfect storm. Somehow I am not completely surprised, not after Americans re-elected someone such as George W. Bush in 2004. Bushâ??s re-election did show to the world the lack of intellect and common sense of a large number of American voters. Jonathan Alter it is just doing his job as a journalist and reporting on what he perceives that is going on in the current presidential race. And as a journalist he has to try to be impartial regarding his comments and many of the other pundits on the various television programs are doing the same with the exception of Fox News. It seems to me that in this critical point in US history and possibly in world history the Democratic Party decided to go with CUTE. A black man who can be considered also as a rookie or the first woman running for president of a major party. The front runner in the Republican Party John McCain, a man who will be 72 years old in 2008 â?? an old man in complete disconnect as most of the other Republican Party candidates regarding how the world works in the 21st century; the world of Google, Facebook, Wikipedia, and everything else that it is under way. If Americans had any understanding of what it is really at stake in November of 2008, then they would elect only one person, and that person would win by a mile from the second place â?? I am talking about Al Gore. Al Gore is the real deal and he is already a statesman and he has the potential to be the new FDR. .
