The sound production on the Detroit PBS channel was poor and ruined an otherwise excellent show

Review articles on CR are definitely available -รข?? in English, Italian, Danish, and German for example. More to the point for an American audience is that reviews of the relevant literature are being done on CR, and the science has advanced so well that reviews are available on a variety of finer issues, e.g., effects of age and CR on tumor necrosis factor alpha signaling in the skeletal muscle, calorie restriction's protection against age-related sclerosis, and health promotion by dietary restriction. And this is besides all the animal research. Two papers to start with are: 1. Fontana L, Klein S. Aging, adiposity, and calorie restriction. JAMA. 2007 Mar 7;297(9):986-94. Review. PMID: 17341713 2. Masoro EJ. The role of hormesis in life extension by dietary restriction. Interdisciplinary Topics in Gerontology: 2007;35:1-17. Review. PMID: 17063030 To find abstracts of these, go to www.Pubmed.gov and search, using the PMID. To get the whole papers if you have no access to a medical library, you can ask your local public librarian to request them through the InterLibrary Loan system. To use Pubmed to find other review articles, search on caloric-restriction after clicking on LIMITS, then click on Review as the type of article. Choose an age range, sex, language, human or animal, etc, according to your preference. Clicking GO will give you more than a few options to choose from. You can also use the CR Society's Web site for more information and participate in our electronic mailing lists, science-oriented or community sharing, as you prefer. We certainly welcome new voices.
