LOVE CHARLIE ROSE - HE ACTUALLY DID MAKE ATWOOD SMILE. HERE'S SOMETHING - AS A READER AND EARLY FAN OF MS ATWOOD'S WORK, AND AS A CANADIAN WITH WRITING ASPIRATIONS, I'D LIKE TO TELL HER TO STOP WRITING NOW. SHE'S BECOME CALCIFIED AND HER SEMI-DEITY STATUS IN 'JUST" CANADA HAS GROWN VERY BORING. SHE'S A RELIC OF THE 20TH CENTURY AND ALL HER OLD BEEFS AND ISSUES, INDEED HER AESTHETICS, ARE STARTING TO SOUND RATHER QUAINT AND DATED. SO MAGGIE, FROM ONE CANADIAN TO ANOTHER: CEASE AND DESIST AND GIVE THE NEXT GENERATION A CHANCE . . . YOU'RE SO TWENTIETH CENTURY.

Thank you Charlie. Ms. Atwood is a wonderful author. She is fearless and bold. She is, however, also a notoriously difficult interview. You seem to put her at ease. My god (lower case, respect for Ms. Atwood's atheism), she even smiled! Please have her back. And, please chase after other fine literary writers. You have yet to attract, for instance, Julian Barnes.
