Donny George
A conversation with Donny George, former director of the Iraqi National Museum in Baghdad
Keywords:
A conversation with Donny George, former director of the Iraqi National Museum in Baghdad, who discusses his experiences overseeing Iraq's national museum under Saddam Hussein and the tragic looting of the institution following the U.S. invasion in 2003.

I had the great privilege of meeting Dr. Donny George through friends and the Bowers Museum (in Santa Ana, California, bowers.org) at the end of September last year. Not only did I attend his lecture at the museum, but I shared dinner meals with him, at the home of friends the evening prior, and, again, at a restaurant after a post lecture reception at the same home. He is an amazing intellect and personality, so articulate and sensitive. I cannot tell you (nor do I have to) about what an experience it was for me to meet him.
