Craig Venter showld be given the Nobel Prize and Bush should rward him an HONOR for giving Competition to the Lazy Gov Genome project! Why no FULL SCREEN mode for the shows???? All competition offers this, but you are so greedy that you give us loyal viewer a 2 inch window to see it, and no rewind or forward feature.

This is a wonderful interview. Craig Venter describes the complex interplay of genome and environment. A single human genome for medicine is much less enlightening than 6.5 billion genomes. Chinese traditional medicine has been practicing personalized medicine for over 5000 years without scientific understanding, thus, it is difficult to translate into modern medicine. Venter's development of the Whole-genome shotgun sequencing will make modern personalized medicine possible for everyone who can afford ($100-1000 per genome!). Hope health insurance companies and governments around the globe will provide incentives and funding for preventative medicine using the genomic information, rather than use to against individuals. Hope US will take the lead in this area. Venter's idea of using designer synthetic bacteria not only for solving the energy crisis but also for combating globe warming is the best and a maverick idea. Hope it will be taken seriously by government and venture capitalists and funded by all who care about our fragile civilization and the Earth we call home!
