I had just met Elaine the month before (Dec 2005) at an interview session in Chicago...in fact I attended both nights...to her speak spontaneously about her life and career was truly inspiring. As a performer in one of the first college productions of COMPANY back in 1975 at Drake University, I had always marveled at her performance of THE LADIES WHO LUNCH..the depth of interpretation, etc. and had always wanted to tell her so...and in fact she was more interested in the role I had played in the show those many years ago and the fact that I had followed her career ever since. The following summer she performed at the Ravinia Festival in a preview performance of her Cabaret act at the Carlyle..I was even able to attend the rehearsal and found a very intense actress at work...absolutely amazing at her age...I will forever remember these times!! This interview is exactly ELAINE...what you see is what you get...nothing closer...the way she works, how she works and where she's going....Watch closely!
