He looks just like Hunter S. Thompson. fffphhew. He talks like you...he charms the birds from the tree with his love and peace... ''i have peace and enlightenment in my heart when i am religious...'' a nun said to me. any nun..buddhist..catholic...recently an indo-indian co-worker correcting me: ''don't believe in any idol worshipping religion, simply believe in God, one supreme being..'' tho i don't belong to her religious sect. one thing i am skeptical about the comment asking all the world leaders to hear dalai...far fetched or not? no...soft sell for more power...and dalai wants it higher and higher..

good interview, Mr. Rose, there is always another agenda with this guest...a dissident's behaviors in this www. may i talk about another one today when i saw NBC interview with Wang Dan. amazing achievement in the USoA. God bless America, we have to talk about this, thank you for this avenue: how did Wang Dan get a Havard degree? is that a pay off? he earned it and did it his way. but we must not give him more and more. let him work and earn his keeps. however, by the interview, he does not make sense at all. he protests and wants reform. there is more than one chinese who can do it but not Wang's group, the chinese government is doing it now. i am not pro china at all but at least understand the boom and bust cycles of china thru centuries. Wang Dan claimed to be the leader then, still now he wants reforms regardless of where he is, fantastic dreamer...no pity for him who said 'i have no protection, who protects me? , we alll learn to be law abiding citizen wherever we are, and content to live ordinary life. Wang does well, not bad as a refugee to claim a harvard degree. immigrant americans are modest people by and large. this chinese wants more. when he gets a harvard degree, he wants more glory? of course, he will be socially higher than other chinese peasants if he returns to china. there are many ignorant chinese in china, and Wang continues to live an ignorant man in another country. US very generous to let him stay. but he is not likely to live as an ordinary citizen anywhere because he was a spoiled brat from china. his parents were strong and determined to say that he is right, 'a son is always the dragon to any chinese parents eye', of course they are sure that the son is under protection. he lives very well with friends here and is well fed. that is a very extraordianary life. i am an ordinary folk and may i ask : what are these few chinese so right about? this interview is great to show how some chinese are really impossible with the compulsive and obssessive streaks. i cannot help but agree that the current china government is right: good riddance. his parents can come to live in the states, i'm sure they have a way with their network. they look well taken care of. just good riddance from china, mmh, for another 50 years at least !!! US government too generous !! don't let him get into local political system tho !!!! just a 'ell of a propaganda machine.

Now that we've lost Tim "The Truth" Russert, Mr. Charlie is indeed an even more precious resource. Thank you for this site since it's hard to stay up late some times.

Comment by Mike on Thursday, Apr 24 at 07:39 PM After reading a lot stuff about this guy, we should watch this guy carefully...he is hypocritical... " Who made him the authority of Dalai Lama? If Mike judged Dalai Lama's character he should state why he came to his conclusion. I suggest Mike read some Tibetan history before he write about Tibet or Dalai Lama again. As for Comment made by Gustav on Monday, May 5 at 05:32 PM "I must say that I'm not a professor in the subject, however... I read the other day that we in the west see this very much NOT from chinas point of view. For example, before china took over Tibet the average life expectancy was about 30! Think of all the investments the chinese have made, I would also be angry with an uprising from Tibet, and it isn't peaceful from either side anymore. Excuse my ignorance people!" Gustav, you are naive! Why is Chinese investing money in Tibet? Do you know how much they could make out of all the tourist? You need to read up on the Tibetan history too!

Two shining lights in a world of darkness . . . Would that we could learn from this intelligent, tolerant, and loving way of looking at the world and our place in it. When will we learn that brutality and force are not the way to bring peace and harmony; that materialism and ever ascending economic "growth" does not bring satisfaction and contentment? When there is less hunger and abject poverty on this planet, when there is adequate education and equitable opportunities for employment and reasonable health care for the countless populations of this earth, there will be more stability, more honest governance, more acceptance, open mindedness, and less grief for all who call themselves human. Thank you for giving Charlie Rose and the Dalai Lama the opportunity to - together search and reach toward an understanding of these grave issues facing humanity at every level of development.
