Linda,
I had the privilege of going to Poland and Israel with Irene on the March of the Living in 2004. She has just published her book and it is indeed called The Fifth Diamond. It is available by calling her; if you want her number feel free to email me at polakoff at gmail dot com.

I have had the opportunity to interpret (in sign language) for deaf students who attended a presentation by Irene Zisblatt when she visited a Jupiter High School in FL to talk to the students about her experiences during the Holocaust. The most important thing she told us, was to never forget, and that everyone needs to know about the experiences in the Holocaust. After all, Irene said, some day there will be no living survivors left. All of us...need to keep this alive, to educate all people, regardless of race, to never let this happen again. I thank Irene for visiting Jupiter High School in Jupiter, FL, to share her experiences and most of all, her courage and strength to carry on. In fact, one teacher that I work with at Independence Middle School in Jupiter, FL, has already started educating her eighth grade students now, and not wait until high school when this information is typically presented in class. I will always remember the story you told us about the 4 diamonds you kept in your skirt as a young girl in the concentration camp. I recall your friend during the Holocaust who told you that you should write a book someday, and that it should be called, "The Fifth Diamond". I check from time to time to see if find a book called, "The Fifth Diamond". I look forward to reading your book someday when it is published. I just want you to know that I honor you, and thank you, Irene. Sincerely, Linda Sinotte, Stuart, FL.
