Thank you for the informative interviews with these persons who have researched the early life of Wm J Clinton as I don't do enough reading myself. This is 13 years after your interview and I find it fastinating material now as H Rodham-Clinton is on the campaign trail.

      Dear Mr. Rose:

I follow your programs almost religiously. They are relaxing and informative. Just few words to share some comments as a teacher about the interview with Mr. Klein from NY Education Department.

. Business people have no business in the direction of schools. They should only work for specific courses or payroll. They don't have pedagogical visions to improve a medieval system.

. Unions are not the problems. They are in most states very weak, and are the only protection to a profession facing much abuses and liability.

. Teachers are not paid and supported properly. Most of the time, they have to deal with bad administrators who are placed there just by internal political connections.

. The level of anti-social behaviour and mental illnesses, drug abuses and aggressivity, is staggering in most schools of the country.

. Teachers are not consulted by politicians and the media about the courses education should take in the country. The ones who show up are Teachers Of The Year or Misters Goody Two Shoes with right winged ideas.

. Education is a public service to the community like the police and the health care system, aiming at forming character and mind by putting the younger generation in touch with what former generations have accomplished, especially this sophisticated language of Math. used in Science. We cannot expect miracles by bashing teachers and blaming them for all problems in society. I never met a real bad teacher in 35 years of service, but a lot of parents, students, and administrators with psychological problems projected on the teachers.

. The focus of curriculi should be on reading and writing at the elementary school, Math. in middle school, and Science in high school.
