Phil Jackson

Philip Douglas "Phil" Jackson is a current National Basketball Association (NBA) coach and former player. Though only a moderately successful player, Jackson is considered one of the greatest NBA coaches of all time. He has one of the best post-season records in the NBA and is tied with Red Auerbach for winning nine NBA titles. Jackson is also one of the only three head coaches to win the NBA Finals with two different teams, the Chicago Bulls (1989-1998), where he coached Michael Jordan, and the Los Angeles Lakers (2000-2004; 2005-present), where he coached Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal.

Jackson is most famous for his use of Tex Winter's triangle offense as well as a holistic approach to coaching players influenced by Eastern philosophy, earning him his sports media nickname: "The Zen Master". He is a 1992 inductee of the North Dakota Roughrider Award.
