Matt Damon
Matthew Paige Damon is an Academy Award-winning screenwriter and Academy Award-nominated actor. His first film role was with one line in the 1988 romantic comedy "Mystic Pizza" and it was not until "Geronimo: An American Legend" that he received a major part. He then appeared as a heroin-addicted soldier in the 1996 "Courage Under Fire" and soon thereafter, co-wrote a script with close personal friends and co-star in several films, Ben Affleck. The script became "Good Will Hunting," which earned both Damon and Affleck Oscars for Best Original Screenplay. Damon was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for the same film. Damon parodied this event as a fictional version of himself in Kevin Smith's "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" (2001).
Some other notable film projects for Damon have included "Saving Private Ryan" (1998), "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (1999) for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor, "Dogma" (1999), "Finding Forrester" (2000), "Ocean?s Eleven" (2001), "The Bourne Identity" (2002), "The Bourne Supremacy" (2004), "Syriana" (2005), "The Departed" (2006) and "The Good Shepherd" (2006). Damon also founded Project Greenlight, with Affleck and Chris Moore, to find and fund worthwhile film project from novice filmmakers. The accompanying televised documentary about the making of film projects has received three Emmy nominations.
