Dr. Martin D. Abeloff
Dr. Martin D. Abeloff has been the director of the Johns Hopkins Oncology Center, the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center since 1992, where he focuses specifically on translating research findings to the clinical arena in lung and breast cancer.
He is a medical oncologist who has specialized in solid tumors and has played a significant role in the design of new systemic therapeutic approaches to breast and lung cancer. He has also researched hematological malignancies and has been a leader in research programs on cancer prevention and control. Abeloff was previously president of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and Chairman of the Oncology Drug Advisory Committee of the FDA, and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Scientific Counselors to the NCI's Intramural Division of Clinical Sciences at the National Cancer Institute. He is also one of four editors of a comprehensive textbook entitled, Clinical Oncology.
