Ashraf Qazi
Ashraf Qazi is the Special Representative of the U.N. Secretary-General for Iraq, and a former senior Pakistani diplomat. He was appointed by U.N. Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, on July 14, 2004. Prior to this current assignment, Qazi was Pakistan's ambassador to the United States since September 2002. Before that he was Pakistan's High Commissioner to India (since 1997), ambassador to China (1994-97), to Russia (1991-94), to then-East Germany (1990-91) and Syria (1986-88). He also had diplomatic assignments in Copenhagen, Tokyo, Cairo, Tripoli and London.
