Abba Eban
Aubrey Solomon Meir (February 2, 1915 - November 17, 2002) was an Israeli diplomat and politician.
Eban was very involved with 'The Palestine Question' at the United Nations and in 1947, he was appointed as a liaison officer to the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine. Eban was also an ambassador to the United States, and in 1952, he was elected vice president of the U.N. General Assembly. After serving on the Knesset, which is the Israeli parliament, for 30 years, Eban lost his seat in 1988 because of internal splits in the parliament.
Eban spent his time after the Knesset writing and teaching. In 2001, he received the Israel Prize, his country's highest honor.
