Brewster is an American journalist who has worked in both print and broadcast. He began as a writer at “American Heritage” in 1977, then accepted an editorial/writing position with “Life” magazine. His diverse subjects ranged from the State Jewish Museum in Prague to the British artist Henry Moore.

He then moved to the ABC to cover politics, while still maintaining duties at “Life.” These included the 1988 coverage of the Democratic National Convention as well as Washington Bureau Chief during the Gulf War.

From 1991 to 1994, Brewster began assisting with PBS and ABC News productions. Recently he co-authored two books with the late Peter Jennings about the 20th Century: “The Century for Young People” and “The Century.”
