Victor Navasky is a professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He was editor of “The Nation” from 1978 until 1995, and its publisher and editorial director 1995 to 2005. In November 2005 he became the publisher emeritus.
Before moving to “The Nation”, he was an editor at “The New York Times Magazine” and wrote a monthly column about the publishing business, “In Cold Print”, for “The New York Times Book Review”. He has taught at a number of colleges and universities and has contributed articles and reviews to numerous magazines and journals of opinion. In 2005, Navasky received the George Polk Book Award, given annually by Long Island University to honor contributions to journalistic integrity and investigative reporting.
