Thomas von Essen is the former New York City fire commissioner and now is a senior vice president at Giuliani Partners and is chief executive officer of Giuliani-Von Essen LLC, which is an affiliate of Giuliani Partners.

Von Essen served as fire commissioner from April 15, 1996 until December 31, 2001. During that time he was president of the Uniformed Firefighters Association. In 2002, he was made a member of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II.
