Russell Crowe is an Academy Award-winning actor. The son of movie set caterers, Russell got the acting bug early in life, beginning as a child star on a local Australian TV show. His first big break came with two films, “Romper Stomper” (1992) and “The Sum of Us” (1994). When Sharon Stone saw “Romper Stomper” (1992), she asked Crowe to be in her film, “The Quick and the Dead” (1995), which became his first American film. He quickly moved on to his second, “Virtuosity” (1995), a Sci-Fi extravaganza starring Denzel Washington. After his third film “L.A. Confidential” (1997), Crowe received three consecutive Oscar nominations for “The Insider” (1999), “Gladiator” (2000) and “A Beautiful Mind” (2001), winning the award for his role in “Gladiator.” He also starred in the Oscar-nominated “Master and Commander” (2003) and in “Cinderella Man” (2005) and “A Good Year” (2006).
