David B. Lat is a former assistant U.S. attorney, who became more commonly known because of his work at gossip blogs “Underneath Their Robes” and Wonkette. He now runs the legal blog “Above the Law”, a part of the Dealbreaker.com network of blogs.
Lat graduated from Yale Law School, where he served on the Yale Law Journal and was vice president of the school’s chapter of the Federalist Society. After graduating from law school, he clerked for Judge Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Lat then worked at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, for two and a half years, before joining the U.S. Attorney’s office in the District of New Jersey in Newark.
At the end of 2005, Lat left his job at the U.S. attorney’s office. He then became an editor of the Washington D.C. blog ?Wonkette? before forming a blog at abovethelaw.com with Elizabeth Spiers.
