Andrew Finkel, a member of the board of CPS, has been an Istanbul based-correspondent since 1989 working for a variety of international press organizations as well as having had a regular column in the Turkish language press. He recently completed a Reagan-Fascell Fellowship at the National Endowment for Democracy, Washington to write about the role of the Turkish press during a process of political reform.
Mr. Finkel has been a columnist with Turkish daily newspaper, Milliyet since 2003, a free lance contributor to CNN since 1995, contributing editor to Cornucopia magazine since 1992 and a contributor to a variety of print and broadcasting media, including BBC radio and television, Sky Television, DeutscheWelle, The Guardian, Global Journalist, NPR, The Outlook Section of the Washington Post, The Economist and others. He is also author of special supplements for the Wall Street Journal, and commentator on numerous Turkish-language television stations. He has been a correspondent in Turkey for The Times since 1991 reporting from Baghdad, Kabul, Northern Iraq and Tashkent. He has been a correspondent in Turkey for Time Magazine since 1999.
Mr. Finkel is the author of the book Turkish State, Turkish Society, published in 1990. He has received numerous international awards for his work in journalism.
