Doctor Thomas P. Campbell is a tapestry curator who became the ninth director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on January 1, 2009.

Campbell was born and raised in Cambridge, England. He received a B.A. in English language and literature from the University of Oxford in 1984 and a Master’s degree at the Courtauld Institute of Art in 1987 and a PhD from Courtauld in 1999.
