The Dillinger Escape Plan {DEP} is a heavy metal rock band founded in 1996 by Ben Weinman and Chris Pennie. In 1997, the band recorded their first album with Relapse Records. Their second album, Calculating Infinity, received critical acclaim from both underground and mainstream press. The band is best known for the intensity of their performances, which have incorporated light shows, fireworks, fire breathing, and other special effects. The New York Times said about DEP, ?The lyrics are nonstop dystopia. But the words hardly matter. Dillinger Escape Plan is about extreme musical craft: fast tempos and sputtering, rubbery start-and-stop structures.? Their latest album, Ireworks, was released in November.
