Brooke Astor (March 30, 1902 ? August 13, 2007) is an American socialite and philanthropist who was the chairman of the Vincent Astor Foundation, which had been established by her third husband. She also is a novelist and has written two volumes of memoirs. As a result of her charity work, Astor was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1998.
