David M. Rubenstein is a financier and lawyer. He is Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group, one of the world’s largest private equity firms, which has grown into a firm managing more than $90 billion from 27 offices around the world. From 1975-76 he served as Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Constitutional Amendments. During the Carter Administration, he was Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy.
Rubenstein is on the Board of Directors or Trustees of many cultural and academic institutions: Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (Vice Chairman), the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, to name a few.
