Neil Sheehan is an American journalist. He served as “The New York Times” Pentagon correspondent and reported on the White House, obtaining the Pentagon Papers for the Times in 1971 revealing a secret U.S. Department of Defense history of the Vietnam War. This series earned “The New York Times” a Pulitzer Prize.

Sheehan was awarded a non fiction Pulitzer Prize in 1989 for “A Bright Shining Lie” about the life of Lieutenant Colonel John Paul Vann and the United States involvement during the Vietnam War. He also authored “The Arnheiter Affair,” and “After the War Was Over.”
