Ellen V. Futter is President of the American Museum of Natural History. In 1971, she was subsequently elected to full membership to complete the term of Arthur Goldberg, former Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

Futter is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Advisory Board of the Yale School of Management, the steering committee of the Financial Services Volunteer Corps, on the Advisory Board of the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, National Institute of Social Sciences and the Academy of American Poets, as well as of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the New York State and American Bar Associations.

She formerly served as Chairman of the Board of New York Federal Reserve Bank and Chairman of the Commission on Women’s Health of The Commonwealth Fund. She has received numerous honorary degrees, including from Yale, and awards.
