Darren Star is an American television and film producer and screenwriter best known for the hugely successful television series “Beverly Hills 90210”, “Melrose Place” (both of which were co-produced with Aaron Spelling), and “Sex and the City” which was based off of a book of the same name by Candace Bushnell. As well as creating these series, he personally wrote a number of scripts and directed some episodes.
