Sidney Jones is “Crisis Group’s” South East Asia Project Director in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The International Crisis Group is an international, non-profit, non-governmental organization whose mission is to prevent and resolve deadly conflicts through field-based analysis and high-level advocacy. Jones and South East Asian analysts prepare analytical reports on the sources of conflict and violence in the region, with a particular focus on Indonesia. It also looks at issues of security sector reform and decentralization in Indonesia. Jones frequently briefs the media, international organizations, and government representatives on these issues. She was the Asia Director of the Human Rights Watch from 1989-2002, the Indonesia-Philippines Researcher for Amnesty International from 1985-88 and Program Officer of the Ford Foundation from 1977-1984.
