George Carlin is a Grammy-winning American stand-up comedian, actor, and author. He is noted for his irreverent attitude and his observations on language, psychology, and religion along with many taboo subjects. He often takes on contemporary political issues in the United States and satirizes the excesses of American culture.

Carlin was described by Comedy Central as the second greatest stand-up comedian of all time. He was the first-ever host of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live”. His first two HBO specials aired in 1977 and 1978. He began a weekly sitcom, “The George Carlin Show” in 1993. In 1997 his second book, entitled “Brain Droppings”, was released. In 2001, Carlin was given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 15th Annual American Comedy Awards.
