Li Lu was an organizer and leader of the Chinese student dissidents who took part in the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. After the protests, Li Lu, a graduate student at Nanjing University, was forced to flee mainland China and he ultimately moved to the United States.
In 1990 he published a book about his struggles titled “Moving the Mountain: My Life in China”. Since moving to the U.S., Li Lu has simultaneously received three degrees (a B.A., an M.B.A., and a J.D.) from Columbia University, the first student ever to do so, and founded his own investment company, Himalaya Capital.
