Anthony W. Marx is an American president of Amherst College. Prior to assuming the post, Marx was Professor and Director of undergraduate studies of Political Science at Columbia University. He is a strong supporter of the “QuestBridge College Match” program at Amherst, which focuses on opening the school to more students from lower-income families. Marx is also author of three books on nation-building, and has concentrated his studies on South Africa.
