John Howard Carpenter is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, film score composer and occasional actor. He has worked in numerous film genres, and is considered one of the most accomplished and influential horror and science fiction directors in Hollywood. John?s film “Halloween” and helped give birth to the slasher film genre. He worked with a relatively small budget of $325,000 and the film grossed over $65 million, making it one of the most successful independent films of all time.
Carpenter?s earlier films are considered classics and several have been subjected to big budget remakes. He recently directed an episode of Showtime’s “Masters of Horror” series called “Cigarette Burns”.
