Amy Heckerlin is an American film director, one of the few women directors to have produced multiple box-office hits.
Heckerling’s first film, “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”, was praised for the strong female characters played by Phoebe Cates, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and others. Heckerling’s next film was a parody of gangster films, “Johnny Dangerously”. She directed the second of the National Lampoon vacation films, “National Lampoon’s European Vacation”. She again had a massive hit with “Look Who’s Talking” and directed the sequel, “Look Who’s Talking Too”. Heckerling wrote and directed an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, the movie”Clueless”. It would be another five years before Heckerling produced “Loser”.
