Bobby DeLaughter is an American lawyer. In 1983, he co-founded his own law practice, Kirksey & DeLaughter. He worked as a criminal and civil defense lawyer for nearly ten years. In 1994, the case against Byron De La Beckwith, the alleged murderer of Medgar Evers, a NAACP activist in the early 1960’s, was brought to trial for a third time. His successful prosecution of the case inspired him to write the book ‘Never Too Late: A Prosecutor’s Story of Justice in the Medgar Evers Case’, which was published in 2001. His brilliant closing argument in the Evers case is included in the volume ‘Ladies and Gentleman of the Jury: Greatest Closing Arguments in Modern Law’
