Scott Hicks is an Academy Award nominated film director from South Australia. He graduated from Flinders University of South Australia (BA Honors) in 1975 and was awarded an honorary doctorate in 1997. Hicks found more success with his documentaries, earning a Peabody for his inside look at the “Chinese Army, The Great Wall of Iron” (1989), and an Emmy for “Submarines: Sharks of Steel” (1994). He won the Academy Award for best director for his film “Shine” (1996) about the life of piano prodigy David Helfgott.
