Tanya Tucker is an American country music singer. She may be best remembered for her debut single and trademark song “Delta Dawn,” which went to number 6 on the country charts. Tucker released the song at the age of 13, and she became the youngest singer to have a major hit song on the Country charts.

By age 15, Tucker had a Grammy nomination, a “Greatest Hits” album and she had appeared on the cover of “Rolling Stone” magazine. Tucker’s other No. 1 hits include “Blood Red and Goin’ Down” and “What’s Your Mama’s Name” (both 1973), “Would You Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone)” (1974), “Lizzie and the Rainman” and “San Antonio Stroll” (both 1975), “Here’s Some Love” (1976), and “Strong Enough to Bend” (1988), among many others. Tucker received the Top New Female Vocalist award from the Academy of Country Music in 1972 and the Female Vocalist of the Year award from the Country Music Association in 1991.
