French is an American author. After serving in the Marines during the Vietnam War, French worked as a photojournalist for 13 years before turning to writing. His first book of fiction, “Billy”, was published in 1993 and his second, “Holly”, was published in 1995. His first work of nonfiction, “Patches of Fire”, was published in 1997.
