Dr. Peter Johnson served as a reconstructive microsurgeon, founded and grew the Facial Nerve Center and was the Research Director in Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He founded and was the first President of the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative and then co-founded TissueInformatics, where he served as Chairman and CEO from 1999 until its merger with Paradigm Genetics in 2004. He served as the Chief Business Officer and Chief Medical Officer of Icoria (formerly, Paradigm Genetics; presently Cogenics) from 2004 to 2005.

Dr. Johnson is a past president of the Plastic Surgery Research Council, the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Association, the Tissue Engineering Society, International, and was the founding Chairman of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) FO4, Division IV on Tissue Engineered Medical Products. He subsequently founded and is now President and CEO of Scintellix, LLC. Dr. Johnson is Clinical Professor of Surgery, University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Adjunct Professor of Surgery, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and Adjunct Professor of Surgery and Health and Rehabilitation Science, University of Pittsburgh.
