Charles Dutton is an American actor and director. He made his Broadway debut in 1984 in ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’, winning a Theatre World Award and receiving a Tony Award nomination for best actor. In 1990 he was again nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in ‘The Piano Lesson’.

Dutton has acted on television in many shows, and won outstanding guest actor Emmy awards in 2002 and 2003 for his roles in ‘The Practice’ and ‘Without a Trace’. He won an NAACP Image Award for his show ‘Roc’, which aired on Fox from 1991-1994.
