Nicholas Rettie has been an hotelier since joining The Savoy as a management trainee. Posts in Paris, Scotland and Cologne preceded a number of management roles in London until appointed General Manager of The Athenaeum Hotel on Piccadilly. In 1991 he opened and managed The Halkin, one of the first of London’s design-led boutique hotels, and in 1997 he opened The Metropolitan for the same owners.
