Françoise Gilot is a writer and artist. She is also known as the companion of Picasso between 1944 and 1953.

At 21, Gilot met Picasso and would ultimately raise both their children: Claude and Paloma. Eleven years after their separation, Gilot wrote “Life with Picasso”, a book that sold over one million copies in dozens of languages.

Gilot was married to Jonas Salk, the polio vaccine pioneer, in 1970. She continues to work on her vibrant, colorful art to this day.
