Robert Litan is an American economist. He has been affiliated with the Brookings Institution for nearly 20 years, currently as director of Economic Studies.

During Litan’s time with Brookings, he has written more than 25 books and 200 articles for professional journals and magazines.

Litan has spent much of his career as a public servant. He has served on the staff of the Council of Economic Advisers, as well as working for the Justice Department.
